2021 Michael Taussig QC Family Law Essay Awards


The Family Law Section is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Michael Taussig QC Family Law Essay Awards. The Awards serve to commemorate the life and contributions of one of the Section's most outstanding members, Michael Taussig QC. There are two Awards on offer this year. Junior Lawyer Award One Award will be offered to the value of $3,500. Applicants must submit an unpublished essay of no more then 5,000 words (including footnotes, appendices and tables) that makes a significant contribution to debate and analysis on a family law topic, by 8 January 2021. To be eligible for this Award, candidates:

  • Must be a lawyer holding a current Australian practising certificate (as at the date of their application); and

  • On the date of their application, must be within 4 years of their admission to practise

Law graduates who have not yet been admitted but are completing Practical Legal Training are also welcome to apply, however must contact the Family Law Section on events@familylawsection.org.au

Law Student Award One Award will be offered to the value of $1,500. Applicants must submit an unpublished essay of no more than 3,000 words (including footnotes, appendices and tables) on a family law topic and its broader relevance to the community, by 8 January 2021.
